The walleye is a very highly saught after gamefish by northern anglers and is renowned for its distinct taste. The walleye's skin is the color of copper or brass and its eye is reflective to light, giving them the appearance that their eyes glow in the dark.

Walleye, despite their predatory nature, are a school fish - where you'll find one, there's bound to be many more. They are most active during the night hours, feeding primarilly on smaller fish. During the day, walleye usually hide out and rest in the deep and dark areas of the lake as their eyes are sensative to bright light.

Fishing along rocky dropoffs during the late evening tends to produce good results with walleye. Jigging and trolling work well - basically any method that gets your bait deep is advised with walleye. Both live and artificial bait are very effective.
